Vinod Kathail


Dr. Vinod Kathail is the Founder and CTO of Synfora. Prior to Synfora, he had been the R&D Program Manager and a principal scientist in the Compiler and Architecture Research (CAR) Program at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories. Vinod joined Hewlett Packard Labs in 1990 as a member of the team that was working on a new style of parallel computer architecture, now known as EPIC. He co-invented many architectural concepts such as data speculation and a new instruction set for predicated execution. Vinod was the Chief Architect for the research compiler, called Elcor, developed by CAR. He helped invent novel compiler techniques such as critical path reduction techniques for loop and scalar codes. Vinod was the Chief Architect for the PICO system prior to assuming its overall management responsibilities. Vinod received his Doctor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, his M. Tech. Degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), and his B. Tech. degree from Maulana Azad College of Technology.
