Synfora Wins Electronique’s Golden Electron Award for EDA Software

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — June 19, 2009 – Synfora, Inc., the premier provider of algorithmic synthesis tools for integrated circuit and system designers of large, complex processing applications, today announced that its PICO Extreme™ product has won the prestigious Electron D’Or award in the CAO Electronic category. The award, sponsored by France’s Electronique magazine, recognizes products in 14 categories, with the winner in each category chosen by an independent jury of expert users from products released in the previous 12 months. Runners-up in the category included Cadence C2S and EDA tools from CoFluent, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys and Zuken.

PICO Extreme enables the implementation of dramatically larger and more complex sub-systems using a multi-level hierarchical methodology based on Synfora’s innovative TCAB (Tightly Coupled Accelerator Block) technology. PICO Extreme allows familiar design styles, reduces runtime and achieves unprecedented quality of results including reduced power.

“We are honored to win the prestigious Electron D’or award and to have PICO Extreme recognized for its ability to allow designers to quickly implement hardware from C algorithms,” said Simon Napper, president and CEO of Synfora. “Synfora’s technology leadership in algorithmic synthesis allows us to deliver the highest productivity and the best quality of results from the most abstract design.”

PICO Platform
The PICO Algorithmic Synthesis Platform provides productivity gains by creating application accelerators from an untimed C algorithm at the highest level of abstraction. PICO yields QoR (quality of results) that is competitive with manual design by using a unique parallelizing compiler and multi-level hierarchical abstraction and IP reuse. It offers the highest possible level of abstraction for large designs, and has been proven to provide huge productivity gains on the largest production designs, not just on small blocks.
